The Journey
Do we vibe?
You are expecting and are looking for doula support? Yey!!
First: let’s meet.
For this journey it’s so important that you feel comfortable around me and that you actually really like me. If not, I’m not the one for you.
I’m going to join your birth team and you will only want to have people around you that you feel connected to.
This first initial meeting is free of charge and I’m happy to meet you (and your partner) to get to know each other. Ask me all the questions!
2. You like me!
You really like me and want to go this journey together? Again: Yey!!
We’ll just have to do a quick bureaucratic run. You’ll receive my doula agreement where everything is laid out and explained. With your signature your spot is secured and we’re all ready to move forward to the real fun part.
3. Going through your pregnancy together.
For the next months (or weeks), I’ll be right there for you and your partner.
I will be able to provide you with evidence based knowledge and answer any questions that arise.
As a birth doula I have lots and lots of resources that I’m more than happy to share with you during your pregnancy.
We will also start our prenatal meetings!
Whatever comes up, we’ll go through it together. I’ve got you.
4. You go into labour.
It’s happening, you’re going into labour.
I’ve been on call for you starting week 38 and we’ve been in close contact ever since.
There might have been a close call or two already, but don’t you worry, that’s totally normal. That’s what I’m here for.
If labour is really starting - and you’ll know - I will join you at home and we’ll labour together until you feel like transitioning to your chosen birth place.
Wherever you go, I go. Hospital, birth center or home birth, I’m right there with you until your baby is born.
5. Your baby is here.
You’ve done it. You birthed your baby. Whatever way that is.
I’ll stay with you for the first 1-2 hours after birth and then give you some space and intimate family time.
6. Settling in at home.
You’re now home with your baby and settling in the best you can.
I’ll come the first time a few days after birth, checking in on you and your partner. It’s been a ride.
Don’t worry about hosting me, that’s not what I’m here for. I feel good in chaos.
Do you want to talk? Do you just want to sit in silence? Do you want to sleep? Do you want to go over your birth experience?
I’m here for any of it.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I book you?
The earlier, the better. I only take a certain amount of births a month, so chances are higher that I’m all booked out if you contact me later on.
Booking me earlier means I can be by your side through your entire pregnancy and am able to answer any questions that come up during this time.
What’s the difference between a doula and a midwife?
A midwife is a trained medical professional who is responsible of all medical procedures and the well being of both you and your baby. A doula provides continuous emotional support and physical comfort that is concentrated on the birthing person (and their partner).
It can happen that - in a hospital setting - you will see many different midwives throughout your labour. As midwives often care for multiple birthing persons, they might only be able to spend a couple of minutes every hour with you. Your doula stays with you continuously. Having worked together during pregnancy, a doula knows you and your partner well and is well aware of your birthing wishes.
As a doula, I work alongside your midwives to create a good and stable birth environment for you, filled with confidence, knowledge and strength.
What about my partner? Does the doula replace my partner?
A doula doesn’t replace your partner. While I can be your one support person in the room, I don’t try to replace anyone. I am a new member of your birthing team, always ensuring that you are being advocated and cared for.
I’m also here for your partner. From letting your partner take a break, reminding them to have a snack and hydrate, explaining what is happening, a doula can be very reassuring and take a lot of pressure of birth partners. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, this is also a very intense experience for partners. I’m here to make suggestions and help you help them.
Where do you support births?
I will be wherever you are. If that is at home, a birthing center or the hospital. Even if you choose a transfer, I’ll come with you. I don’t leave your side.
Are doulas only for women who want to have a natural childbirth experience?
Absolutely not. A doula is for everyone. Whatever birthing wishes one might have. If you wish to be supported by me, I will be there. No matter which way you want to birth your baby.
I will continue to care for you and your family, with an epidural hospital birth, a planned or unplanned caesarean. I will provide you with emotional and informational support and will be offering my knowledge when it comes to body positioning, coping and comfort techniques.
And I won’t judge. Ever.
I really want a doula, but I can’t afford one. Can we do something here?
I know Doula services might not always be in the budget, so I want to try everything to make this service possible for you. I offer, for example, the fee to be paid in many small rates.
An idea is to put the doula service on your gift registry. Instead of receiving cute little baby socks and onesies from your family and friends, why not ask them to ship in to a doula fund!
testimonials of doula clients
„Pauline is amazing. I was at my wits end when I first reached out, Pauline came over and asked what I wished for most. She made me a cup of tea and sent me to bed. When I woke up three hours later the baby had slept and food was on the kitchen bench waiting for me. Enough to get me through the next two days! Pauline is a real life fairy godmother. Or maybe a genie. I can‘t express in words how amazing it is having her around. Thank you so much for helping us!“
– Laura & baby William
„When we made the decision to interview some doulas, we never imagined we would be doing such an amazing turn on our birth experience. On the first conversation we clicked, and we knew Pauline was the one. My husband feared to be left out but he says today that it was unfounded! Talking to her is effortless, and sharing my fears and ideas was natural! She treated all with respect, professionalism and honesty, making me feel heard and understood.
Pauline is warm and kind, and was so important on my journey. Having planned a natural birth, I was terrified of the chance of having a hospitalised delivery. She tackled all my fears beforehand, making me more open for change. It was of the utmost importance, since what I had previously feared happened: I had to be hospitalised. And she was there at every second, calming me, my husband, explaining what was happening. I can’t imagine how terrified I would have been without her help. Pauline detailed me the anaesthesia effects, how each thing would happen. She has amazing techniques for relaxation, massage (it really helped during the pain stage), aromatherapy, how to move so the baby will drop correctly, how to breathe and many more! And all of this is only about her doula work, she is also a fantastic photographer! I have beautiful photos from my baby bump, my birth and of my baby! I’m planning the next baby and I’ll want to have her from the start!“
– Thamires, Adrian & baby Tony
“From the moment I met Pauline I felt a beautiful calm presence in her, having someone taking pictures at your birth is a very intimate thing! We called her at the right time and she came immediately. Because I felt so close to her she hugged me through a contraction in between taking photos, which was a nice moment. Pauline was professional, her being a doula helps in her birth pics as she knows how to hold space. Her pictures are breathtaking and I’ll treasure them forever! I’m so grateful to have had her capturing my daughters arrival.”
– Shanay & baby Lenni
“We could not recommend Pauline as a doula more. She went above and beyond for us even in the times of the Corona virus.
I am so glad we hired her as (due to the pandemic) my husband had to stay home with our older son while I gave birth and so Pauline came with me instead. Her support was invaluable, beyond the pre birth chats, advice and information she provided, she massaged my back while I laboured and helped remind me to breathe through contractions when they started to get harder to manage and chatted with me between them. For my husband it was a great relief to know that I wasn't labouring alone or with complete strangers (though the hospital midwives were also amazing), he felt he could trust in Pauline after just meeting her once. Pauline was even happy to help me come home via Taxi with the new baby once we were discharged and she picked up a couple supplies for us on the way to our post birth meeting.
Pauline has a great atmosphere to her, fun and relaxing to be around. She is the second doula we have hired and we can say without a doubt that she was far better than the doula for our first child.”
